Petra Cortright

Petra Cortright

“The work is simple and the motivation to make it has always been to entertain myself. I work alone. I always made work I just wanted to look at, for myself—for my own desktop wallpaper. The sense of humor, the trolling… I had to find ways to entertain myself over the years. If anything, the work is related to something like Twitch—it’s a cheeky show of user-driven activity. Like, “here’s what I can do with the same program you have!” I’ve always had an interest in default tools because I like to push them further than what they are intended for. I think it comes from a troll-y place but also from a place of confidence.”
